You sure you wanna do a skate company (bueno)? Seems like that stuff takes a hell of a lot of time. Are you just doing the graphics/ art or also involved with the business stuff like being concerned about the thread count of your sweatshirts and making sure your sweat-shops are the cheapest?
I'm pretty much just doing the art. Living in Austin keeps me fairly removed from the actual business aspect of the company. But when I visit the headquarters I check out samples to make sure the 7 year old girls who are stitching our stuff together ain't slippin'. You gotta watch them little shits.

Your column in Thrasher is damn funny. What funny have you coming down the line?
I usually write those articles the night before they're due, so truthfully I have no idea what's coming down the line. But if I had to guess I'd say something to do with swear words and booze.

Why the closing of Camp Fig? I'm so bummed I never made it out to Austin. Now when I come, where should I go that's up to par with Camp Fig?
We just got tired of the drawbacks associated with Camp Fig's physical location. The space was really small, it didn't have a bathroom, parking was completely nonexistent, and it was downtown in the bar district so you couldn't take a drink outside if you had to get some fresh air. Still, we made the best of it for over 3 years. But the good news is that we're opening up a new space called Okay Mountain. It's going to be about 3 times larger than Camp Fig, it will have a bathroom, parking, and a nice backyard. So even though Camp Fig died, its reincarnation is already on the horizon. But you're never really visiting, so it doesn't really matter.

What excites you about skating these days? What maneuvers are you working on? Personally, I'm learning how to skate pools to I can fully be a pool slasher. F/S airs are going to be ill.
The other day I was skating a ditch and I did an ollie blunt to backside big spin out on a parking block. That totally excited me because it was the first time in a long time that I did a trick I'd never done before. I've pretty much been talking about it non-stop since then.

How come you never come to SF? Don't you have to come here to like prove yourself to Jake or something?
Shit man, I was hoping to have my first solo show at LOW but it never happened... Lately the only time I've been traveling is when I have a show. And I've never been in a show in SF, so I never get out that way. See if you can pull some strings for me. Your couch doesn't smell like pee, does it?

What's your daily routine these days?
I've been working from my home studio for about the last 6 months, so my daily routine is pretty much just wake up, make coffee, and head into my little room and get to work. During the day I usually attend to the "business" aspect of my art (emails, phone calls, instant messages, skateboard graphics and articles.) and in the evenings I crack open the sixer of Lone Star and start painting or drawing. I usually skate on Fridays and Sundays. Sometimes Wednesdays.

Last place you've traveled?
Costa Mesa for about the fourteenth time.

If and when you come to SF what would you look forward to?
Hanging out with you and Fish, dude. I wish I could say something like, "Bombing the shit out of some hills!" But in reality I'd probably be scared shitless to try and tackle those beasts you guys ride.

I think when you come we should hold another game of F.E.C.A.L. Would you join the fun?
I'd watch the fun. My flatland skills are about on par with Danforth's.

What's up in your world these days?
Trying to figure out a way to convince Nate Broussard that he needs to skate to a Geto Boys song in the Bueno video. Other than that just getting ready for a few art shows. Subject Matter in Costa Mesa in March (with Todd Bratrud, Mike Aho, and Travis Millard), and I'm curating a show for the Lab 101 in LA. That show opens on April 1st. Oh, and Travis Millard and I have a collaborative drawing book coming out in May that Volcom is publishing. When I think about that I get so excited that my balls ache. Dude, I'm getting so good at talking about myself...

What's this mini ramp plan you mentioned? Is it going to have any spins, capsules or beer holders in the deck?

I have to run out the door real quick to meet someone. On the way, I'm going to hit McDonalds drive through. Would you risk it? It's bad, but the little cheese burgers can be eaten from time to time. Road trips work best.
I don't eat at McDonalds, but I guess they're getting my dollars anyway since they own Chipotle. Fuckers.
